Ok so I love looking at other photographers work, call it a hobby of mine. Filling my head with all kinds of art; paintings, photography even music helps me get in that ‘creative zone’. This does two things for me first, it keeps me VERY humble seeing I have a long way to go. Second, it motivates me towards excellence. Andy (my husband) encouraged me to “think of photography like golf, your just trying to beat your own score”. Not bad right? So, this is my motto. I want excellence in my life. To wholeheartedly pursue this passion of photography. To set achievable goals and celebrate when they are accomplished. For each client to be blown away and feel like I captured the heart of their unique family. That each of my brides would feel the emotion and authenticity in every picture.

And the count down begins…. 27 days until my first wedding and I am getting PUMPED. Let me fill you in on what has been going on. I found a second shooter for my weddings, Margaret Moran (the high school CAK photography teacher!) and the oh so talented Hannah Wilhoite. I have been perfecting the ‘fill flash technic’ and workin two camera bodies at once. The goal to dominate these weddings (in a good way) ☺

The month of macro photography!

So, I got this sweeeet marco lens canon 100mm. With my weddings quickly approaching I wanted to get some practice with details. Spring is such a beautiful time of year watching everything come to life. Everywhere I look new growth, color abounds and my heart is full. On another note, I think God is a God of timing and he gives us what we want & need at the right time. I feel so thankful for how busy I have been. Work does the body and the heart good! This is what I love to do. Photography fulfills and validates me in so many ways.

Oh February! You were a good month. A last minute getaway to Marathon with Andy was a very much needed time of R&R. I slept, I ate and I took pictures. All my pictures from Marathon are on my proof site if anyone is looking for a good beach/ocean/wildlife picture. I am setting the Marathon gallery to “at cost printing”. So enjoy and thanks for all your support!

It’s funny to analyze your life in blocks of time like this. Life can change one’s emotions and attitude, even ideology can shift. I have been learning a lot or perhaps embracing a truth my heart has always known. I can only speak to my own experience but once where there was disappointment, confusion, and fear are now places of hope, passion, and purpose. By losing life I found life.

Well, this month was difficult to say the least. Loss, and lets just face it’s an ugly and weird time of year. Accepting each day as it is, seeking to find something of beauty or significance was challenging. When I originally decided to do this project I had a pretty good idea of what this year would look like. But sometimes life isn’t so Pollyanna. ..It’s funny though, I have this insatiable desire and need to create. I am thankful for photography because it allows me to process what is in my heart and what words could never say.
