It is difficult to believe one year ago today I launched my website & blog! I have been overwhelmed and thankful at how quickly everything took off and how much support and encouragement I have received. I remember a year ago Andy and I spent about 30 hours setting up my blog and website not knowing what would come of it. I wanted to be busy, but there are some things you can’t control… And in a very natural progression I started doing shoots; families, babies, commercial. I have always had an artistic eye and the basic knowledge of camera functions and had taken photography classes since high school. But I decided early on that if I wanted to be excellent I would need to do two things; first to learn the best techniques, and second to the get the best equipment. So for countless hours I began to read blogs, reviews, books, looked at the world’s renowned photographers. Little by little I began to apply all that I had learned. Secondly, by saving every dollar made, I was able to put it towards the very best equipment because I believe that is what my clients deserve. And over the course of a year I have been able to assemble my entire wish list for photography equipment.
In the day-to-day grind it is easy to forget the small milestones and accomplishments in your life. So I wanted to give everyone a HUGE THANK YOU for all your encouragement and allowing me to do what I love. And just so you know…. I love it all, the shooting, the editing, working with people, the business side of things, planning, setting goals. I truly believe photography matches my gifts and allows me to give something timeless and precious to my clients. Don’t get me wrong, it is not easy. I have worked my ‘you know what off’ this year. Work is work, but when you find something you love and that thing gives you deep sense of accomplishment you run with it.

Where to go from here… Well, this year has definitely been a balancing act between photography, being wife and a mom. Plus we are expecting another little arrival January 19, which we are stoked about! There are so many things I want to learn and do with photography. The avenues are ‘virtually’ endless. This year I want to learn and master (haha) Photoshop and Illustrator, graphics fascinate me. There are so many things I want to explore with editing and in the ‘digital darkroom’. Traveling would be nice see other places through my lens for a fresh perspective. I just want to keep fine tuning my craft towards excellence. I know I am not there yet and I have a LONG way to go but today is about reconizing how far I have come with a thankful heart.
