I had the privilege of taking pictures of a few of the refugee families that are new to Knoxville. All three of these families are political refugees from Iraq. I was overwhelmed by their gracious sense of hospitality. The Iraqi people are driven, hard working people with a strong sense of family. There is so much to learn from this rich culture. The aim of the Refugee Ministry at Cedar Springs is to serve in the transitional adjustment of refugee families to our country. Meeting tangible needs in the name of Christ, to bridge the gap across religious, ethnic, social divides. If anyone is interested in helping serve in this ministry you can contact Almaz at almaz@cspc.net.
On a Side Note: Ali and Walaa Apdulrahman (the 2nd family) have an catering business which offers delicious authentic Iraqi Cuisine. All dishes are made fresh from scratch by Walaa and can be delivered to you! Perfect for a special family dinner or large group setting!
